What the vulnerability does
The GEO my WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via shortcodes in versions up to, and including, 4.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user supplied attributes. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers with contributor-level and above permissions to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Explanation of Vulnerability in Simple Terms
GEO my WP versions 4.0 and earlier contain a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability. An authenticated user with low privileges can inject malicious scripts that execute in the browsers of other users, including administrators. The vulnerability affects the entire site scope due to how the application processes and displays user-controlled input without proper sanitization.
