Explanation of Vulnerability in Simple Terms
The Buttons Shortcode and Widget plugin for WordPress contains a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in versions up to 1.16. An authenticated user with low privileges can inject malicious scripts through the plugin's shortcode or widget interface. When other users view pages containing the affected shortcode or widget, the injected script executes in their browser, potentially allowing the attacker to steal session tokens, modify page content, or perform actions on their behalf.
