What the vulnerability does
The Flex QR Code Generator plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file uploads due to missing file type validation in the update_qr_code() function in all versions up to, and including, 1.2.7. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server which may make remote code execution possible.
Explanation of Vulnerability in Simple Terms
Flex QR Code Generator versions 1.2.7 and earlier allow unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files to the server without restriction. An attacker can upload malicious files—including executable code—over the network with no authentication or user interaction required. This enables complete compromise of the affected site.
