What the vulnerability does
The Creator LMS – The LMS for Creators, Coaches, and Trainers plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized modification of data that can lead to privilege escalation due to a missing capability check in the get_items_permissions_check function in all versions up to, and including, 1.1.12. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor level access and above, to update arbitrary WordPress options.
Explanation of Vulnerability in Simple Terms
Creator LMS contains a missing authorization flaw that allows authenticated users with low privileges to perform actions restricted to higher-privilege roles. An attacker with a basic user account can read, modify, or delete sensitive course data and site content without proper permission checks. All versions up to 1.1.12 are affected. Update to a version newer than 1.1.12 to resolve this issue.
