What the vulnerability does
The Simple User Registration plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Privilege Escalation in all versions up to, and including, 6.3. This is due to insufficient restrictions on user meta values that can be supplied during registration. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to register as an administrator.
Explanation of Vulnerability in Simple Terms
Simple User Registration versions 6.3 and earlier contain a privilege management flaw that allows unauthenticated attackers to gain full control of the site without user interaction. The vulnerability affects all versions from 0 to 6.3. An attacker can read, modify, and delete any data, and run their own code on the server.
