What the vulnerability does
The Depicter plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in versions less than, or equal to, 4.0.4. This is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the depicter-document-rules-store function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to modify document rules via a forged request granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link.
Explanation of Vulnerability in Simple Terms
Depicter — Popup & Slider Builder versions 4.0.4 and earlier are vulnerable to cross-site request forgery (CSRF). An attacker can craft a malicious webpage that, when visited by a logged-in site administrator, performs unwanted actions on the site without the admin's knowledge or consent. The vulnerability requires the admin to visit the attacker's page while authenticated.
