What the vulnerability does
01Description
The Betheme theme for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the ‘page_title’ parameter in all versions up to, and including, 28.1.6 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of theme breadcrumbs. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Explanation of Vulnerability in Simple Terms
02Summary
Betheme versions up to 28.1.6 contain a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that allows authenticated users to inject malicious scripts. When another user views the affected content, the script executes in their browser with their privileges. The vulnerability has a changed scope, meaning it can affect other users and site functionality beyond the vulnerable component itself.
