What the vulnerability does

01Description

The Shield Security plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via the 'message' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 21.0.8 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action such as clicking on a link.

Explanation of Vulnerability in Simple Terms

02Summary

Shield contains a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability that allows attackers to inject malicious scripts into pages viewed by other users. The vulnerability requires user interaction—typically clicking a malicious link—and can affect the confidentiality and integrity of user data. Sites running Shield version 21.0.8 or earlier are affected.
